2025 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge

About the 2025 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge

Now in its fifth year, Porsche Classic is excited to announce that the annual Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge has officially begun. Since the Challenge officially kicked off back in 2020, well over 100 classic cars have been returned to their previous road-worthiness thanks to talented restoration specialists from Porsche dealers across North America. Participating dealers are invited to compete in one of three categories.

Preservation: In this category, technicians aim to keep the vehicle’s original components to enhance its overall function while not restoring it to like-new condition. For instance, technicians can make a minor paint correction versus complete vehicle repaint or steam and refresh seat covers versus replacing them. Vehicles also must have been driven 2,500 miles a year or at least 70,000 miles since production.

Restoration: Technicians are challenged to fully restore vehicles to almost new condition. The restoration must closely follow original production specifications.

Individualization: Inspired by the Porsche Sonderwunsch program, this category is for those entries that fulfill a special wish. Technicians and their entire Porsche Center team are encouraged to be creative but must still use Genuine Parts. The vehicles are also to remain street legal.

“This beloved contest presents a unique opportunity for our Porsche Centers to showcase their Classic abilities through their mechanical and creative skills,” said Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic, “In the first four years of the Restoration Challenge, over 100 classic Porsche cars were returned to the road. We’re excited to see what each team creates in 2025.”

Meet the Blue Grass MOTORSPORT 2002 Boxster S

The 2025 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge entrant from Blue Grass MOTORSPORT is a particularly special 2002 Porsche Boxster S that will compete in the Preservation Class. Originally sold to Mr. Jesse Wright, this Boxster has been a single-owner vehicle and maintained right here at the dealership since it was new. After being thoroughly enjoyed for over 2 decades, Mr. Wright decided that it was time to find a new home and a new lease on life for his prized Boxster. As a special piece of Blue Grass MOTORSPORT history, it became the natural choice for this year’s entrant.

After 23 years on the road, this Boxster S began to show natural wear and age along with some attention needed to its drivetrain. For the Preservation Class, the primary objective is to extend the lifespan of an already road-going vehicle. From a complete powertrain disassembly and rebuild to dry ice exterior reconditioning and interior refresh – our team is excited for another opportunity to take home the trophy.
