The conventional Macan has been a huge hit for Porsche, popular with the public and the automotive press alike. Now, Porsche has combined the winning formula of the Macan with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology to make the Macan Electric, a vehicle that raises the bar on what you thought was possible in an electric SUV. But other manufacturers have introduced their own competing vehicles, and you might be wondering how these compare to the Macan Electric. To help with this, we put together the following guide.

With its very similar pricing and size, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is a logical place to start this comparison. But the similarities end when you take a look at performance, where the Macan Electric takes its first advantage over the EQE. Able to hit 60 mph a full second and a half quicker, thanks to a substantial horsepower difference, the Macan Electric clearly comes out on top here. We don’t have range estimates for the Macan Electric yet, but we can say that the two weigh almost exactly the same, and that the Macan Electric has a slightly larger battery, so we’re expecting better range for the Macan Electric as a result. The Macan also charges quicker at DC fast charging stations. This is because the battery architecture used by Porsche allows for the fastest DC charging available, and you can see a big difference in charging rates. No electric vehicle on the market can charge quicker than those made by Porsche.
The EQE is slightly larger than the Macan Electric, but efficient use of space in the design of the Macan Electric means that it has significantly more cargo space. That becomes even more true when you factor in the Macan Electric having been rated to tow 4,409 pounds, compared to the nonexistent tow rating for the EQE. Helping with this tow rating is the Macan Electric’s standard all-wheel drive, something that’s optional on the EQE. Air suspension is also standard on the Macan Electric and optional on the EQE. So while these two are close in price, they aren’t quite so close in value.

Like all Porsche vehicles, the Macan Electric is built for performance, so for the next comparison, we’re putting the high-performance Macan Turbo Electric up against Audi’s most powerful electric SUV, the SQ8 e-tron. And right from the start, we can see that Audi didn’t push the performance nearly as far as Porsche, with a gap of more than a hundred horsepower and more than a second in the 0-60 time between these two. And even though most people will never hit the top speed in their vehicle, the sizable gulf between the two demonstrates the differences in attitudes toward performance, with the Porsche making a much more suitable track day vehicle. Some of the performance gap is explained by the difference in power, but it’s important to note that the SQ8 is also a lot heavier, by more than 700 pounds.
The Macan Electric scores big on practicality as well, with quite a bit more towing capacity. Not only that, but charging times on both AC Level 2 chargers and DC Level 3 chargers is a lot quicker with the Porsche. The Macan Electric comes with a higher level of equipment too, with the 18-way seats serving as an excellent example of this. And when you want to make your vehicle truly your own with a bit of personal flair, the customization options offered by Porsche are in an entirely different league than what you get from Audi. This starts with a much more extensive list of paint colors and wheel designs, but Porsche also gives you a lot more upholstery options, and even lets you choose the color of your seat belts and badging.

Our last comparison is to the BMW iX. Although the price is a bit more, and the horsepower rating is a bit lower, it seems like these two are otherwise pretty similar. But starting with the 0-60 times – the two vehicles are actually quite different. Based on the similar horsepower ratings – you might expect a difference of one or two tenths of a second in their respective 0 to 60 times, but instead the Macan Electric beats the iX to 60 mph by half a second, demonstrating that when it comes to performance- Porsche excels. The respective top speed numbers also show a similarly large gap, where the Macan Electric will be a clear favorite for track days.
Handling is superior on the Macan Electric for a couple of reasons, one being the superior brakes, which are so much bigger than the BMW’s that even the rear brake rotors on the Macan Electric are bigger than the front rotors on the iX, and the front rotors are a massive two inches larger. The other advantage comes from the available rear-axle steering. The Macan Electric has a tighter turning circle than the iX to start with, but the rear-axle steering cuts it down to just 36.4 feet, a full four feet shorter than the iX.
The range of these two is comparable, but giving the Macan Electric a bit of an edge is the weight advantage, more than 300 pounds of it. This pays dividends on acceleration, and again in the overall electric range. Speaking of dividends -the available passenger-side infotainment screen allows your passenger to enter points into navigation, or make music selections, allowing you to focus on enjoying the driving dynamics of your Macan Electric. Finally, we get to customization. The Porsche clearly has more of the options that BMW offers too, but the list of options offered by Porsche that aren’t available from BMW is even more extensive. You don’t just pick wheel designs on the Macan Electric, but wheel color is also customizable. You can pick a color scheme for the interior, and then extend it further by choosing a color for your seatbelts, or the deviated leather seat centers. It’s a whole other league of customization, one much more likely to turn heads than BMW’s.
It’s clear that if you want an electric compact SUV that truly delivers on luxury, style, and most importantly, performance, then the competition simply doesn’t hold a candle to the Macan Electric. Porsche’s EV technology is the most advanced on the market, and it’s clear that this makes a huge difference. Let us help you reserve your Macan Electric today.
