It all began back in 1947 when the first dealer in the United States agreed to enter a partnership with Ferry Porsche to import European models into the US. In 1950, history was made as the first three Porsche 356 models were sold to US customers. Following its debut, the 1952 Porsche Type 540 (based on the 356 Cabriolet) was created exclusively for the American market. Enthusiasts today refer to this special car as the 356 America Roadster.
