The 2025 Porsche Macan vs. Macan Electric Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos

Since it’s introduction in 2014, the Porsche Macan has been a huge success, impressing both the critics and the public alike. A decade later, Porsche expanded the Macan lineup with an electric version of the Macan, delivering both the excitement and practicality you’ve come to expect from the Macan but in an EV. But there are some differences between the two versions beyond the method of propulsion, and to help make sense of these differences, we’ve put together this guide.

Both versions of the Macan come in four different trims/performance levels. Electric versions are priced a bit higher than the corresponding gasoline versions, but they also come with more power and quicker 0-60 times. The base gasoline model and the Macan T both come with 261 horsepower, while the Macan S comes with 375, and the Macan GTS has 434.
There is a wider spread of power outputs for the Macan Electric, starting with the 355-horsepower base model. Moving up to the Macan 4 Electric adds all-wheel drive and raises the power output to 402 horsepower. The Macan 4S Electric produces 509 horsepower, and the range-topping Macan Turbo Electric has an output of 630 horsepower.

Though they share the same name, and very similar styling, the Macan and Macan Electric are actually built on different platforms. That said, the dimensions are really very similar, with the biggest differences coming from a slightly longer wheelbase and overall length on the Macan Electric. This means a slightly tighter turning circle on the Macan, but not so much that you’d ever really notice. The Macan Electric does offer more cargo space, both in the back and in the front storage compartment, something you won’t find on the Macan, because that’s where the engine goes. In terms of day-to-day use, the difference in cargo capacity is the most significant difference between these two versions of the Macan, and it’s therefore important to note that it really isn’t much of a difference at all.
Macan VS Macan Electric Equipment

In much the same way that Porsche treats the Macan Electric as just two more trims of the Macan in terms of performance, the levels of standard equipment are also where you would expect them to be based on where they fit into the lineup. So things like the BOSE® Surround Sound System that’s optional on the Macan GTS is standard on the Macan Turbo Electric, and so on. Where you’ll see a real difference is in warranty coverage. Both versions offer a 4-year/50,000-mile standard warranty, the powertrain warranty on the gasoline version is 4 years/50,000 miles, while the Macan electric powertrain warranty is 8 years/100,000 miles. And although the gasoline Macan comes with a year of complimentary maintenance, the Macan Electric doesn’t. But this all makes sense, a longer warranty on a new type of drivetrain is pretty normal, and electric vehicles don’t require much maintenance in the first year, so there really wouldn’t be an advantage to having it included on the EV.
Conclusion – Part Of The Macan Family

The Macan Electric isn’t an alternative to the standard Macan lineup, but rather, an extension of it. While there are still some differences, selecting the Macan Electric is more akin to choosing a different trim level than choosing an entirely different vehicle. That said, there are some differences that come with the electric drivetrain. As with Porsche’s other electric model, the Taycan, range varies depending on trim and power output. But there is less variation with the Macan Electric, which gets between 288 and 308 miles of maximum range.
This is the fastest-charging architecture available on any current production electric vehicle, and so far has only been available on the Taycan and its platform-mate the Audi e-tron GT, so this is really quite a big deal. It makes for a DC fast charging time of just 21 minutes from 10 to 80 percent, roughly 10-20 minutes faster than is typical. This brings us to one last difference between the Macan and Macan Electric, fuel cost. The EPA estimates that the annual cost of the electricity for a Macan Electric is between $800 and $850, while the cost of gasoline for the gasoline-powered version ranges from $2,800 to $3,100. Obviously quite a bit more, and that’s before we even start talking about things like oil changes, which EVs don’t need – saving you additional time and money.
